We are an aging population with people living longer which in turn means there are more older people than ever in our communities that require support and practical help, to enable them to stay safely and independently in their own homes.

 

With a person-centred approach, this rewarding opportunity will see you working with people (predominantly over the age of 65) providing individual personalised support in their own homes whilst encouraging them to build upon their abilities.

 

Tasks are varied and are likely to include supporting with personal care, assisting with medication, preparation and cooking of meals, together with any other activity appropriate to the individuals needs within their home.

 

If you are caring, friendly, positive, and cheerful with excellent communication skills and an ability to work with minimum supervision, this could be a very rewarding role for you. We provide more than just a job, we offer fantastic training, guaranteed hours, pension scheme with ongoing support and learning. Flexibility is essential.

 

Contracts currently available are 24.5 hours week on a fixed rotational pattern.

 

A current full UK driving licence and use of your own vehicle is essential, as you will be required to travel to each service users homes. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

 

An SVQ level 2 in Social Care or equivalent is desirable but not essential initially as full training will be provided however you will be required to complete this.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
