Are you passionate about tackling child poverty and supporting families into brighter futures? We’re looking for a committed and compassionate Child Poverty Employability Key Worker to join our DG WORKS team.
This is a unique opportunity to work directly with families, helping parents and carers overcome barriers to employment through personalised support and collaborative working. You’ll be part of a forward-thinking service that values innovation, inclusion, and community-led solutions.
Your Role Will Include:
- Providing one-to-one employability support to parents/carers in households affected by child poverty
- Creating tailored action plans based on individual family needs and aspirations
- Working alongside Whole Family Support Workers and other professionals to deliver holistic, trauma-informed support
- Facilitating access to training, volunteering, work placements, and job opportunities
- Supporting service delivery in community settings, including pop-up cafés and outreach hubs

What You’ll Bring:
Essential:
- Experience in employability, family support, or community development
- Understanding of the challenges faced by families experiencing poverty
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and within multi-agency teams
- Commitment to equality, inclusion, and trauma-informed practice
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of local services and networks in Dumfries and Galloway
- Experience in service co-design or community engagement
- Familiarity with Scottish Government employability frameworks and child poverty strategies
