Dumfries & Galloway Council are looking to employ an enthusiastic, experienced, and skilled Clerk of Works to be an integral part of the Property, Estates and Programme Construction team.
This post is for 36 hours per week.
You must have significant post-qualification experience in a relevant role, experience of building/property maintenance as well as significant experience as a Foreman/Chargehand on various forms of construction projects. You will have sound knowledge of building and construction works, processes, trades, techniques and contracts.
You will be expected to monitor, record and report the progress of works throughout the councils estate. You must have good communication skills in both oral and written form, the ability to deal sympathetically with all stakeholders, be firm but fair with contractors and be able to interpret drawings, specification, and bills of quantities in both electronic and paper format.
You must have a recognised qualification in the building construction field, with a minimum of a City and Guilds (or equivalent).
You will be an experienced construction professional and have proven leadership skills with a track record of success in construction quality control. You will be focused on the provision of monitoring construction quality on council major projects.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

This post is fixed term for up to 3 years.
