Job Description

Club Development Officer (Fixed Term)

Regionwide remit based in Dumfries

£40,470 - £43,437

 

 

This full time post presents an exciting opportunity to lead Club Development within the Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing Directorate. Working with sport clubs and key community partners to ensure clubs in Dumfries and Galloway are safer, stronger, more inclusive and more sustainable.

 

This role involves working directly with clubs, local and national partners, leading the planning and development of sport clubs across Dumfries and Galloway, to ensure access and engagement is maximised. This role will also play a support role to SportScotland’s Community Sport Hubs programme and will promote and enhance the quality of sport and physical activity across Dumfries & Galloway

 

Applicants must be educated to degree level in a sport related field or equivalent and/or have extensive experience working in a club development environment.

 

You will be able to demonstrate the following experience, skills and personality factors:

- Experience of working with sports clubs and community sport

- A clear understanding of the community sport hubs programme

- Ability to lead, implement & deliver strategic plans in partnership with key stakeholders.

- Excellent communication skills (written/ verbal).

- Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work on own initiative.

- Budget/accounts

- Highly motivated and hard working

- Excellent interpersonal skills

- Strong influencing and negotiating skills

- Ability to deliver outcomes through a partnership approach

- Resilient and able to deal confidently with difficult challenges

- Value and promote equality and diversity within community Sport

- Ability to work as a team member

- Ability to receive constructive feedback and improve

 

 

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

 

 

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of these posts. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

This post is fixed term until 31st of March 2027.

This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
