Job Description

Commissioning Officer

Dumfries

£20,235 - £21,718.5

 

You will be required to work 18 hours per week, 52.14 weeks per year.

 

Dumfries and Galloway Health and Social Care Partnership are looking for a Commissioning Officer to work as part of the new Adult Social Work and Social Care Directorate. The post holder will co-ordinate and assist in the planning, development, improvement and monitoring of adult community care services in line with the policies of the Council and in close liaison with service users, Carers, providers and colleagues in the Council, NHS Dumfries and Galloway, voluntary organisations, Third sector and other agencies.

 

The post holder will be responsible alongside others for the implementation of the deliverables as outlined in the Carers Strategy which draws on national policy, legislation and Carer engagement. This includes translating the Carers Strategy into an operational plan, supporting delivery plans, progress reporting and ensuring strategic intentions are embedded into commissioning decisions.

 

The successful candidate will be educated to degree standard in a relevant discipline. They should have experience in social care or a related field. They must have a working knowledge of current relevant social work legislation, guidance and policy especially relating to Carers and the understanding of the key issues faced by social care groups including Carers. They will be an excellent communicator with the ability to deal professionally and sensitively with a wide range of individuals, organisations and commissioning partners and to develop strong partnership links with a variety of stakeholders. They will be able to maintain, review and analyse records and information accurately for contract monitoring purposes.

 

The post holder will be required to be a confident, highly motivated and enthusiastic individual with the ability to prioritise and manage their own workload and work as part of a team. They will have excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and be responsible for meeting and monitoring deadlines.

 

This post can we worked over two days working  9 hours per day or 3 days working 6 hours per day.

 

A current driving license is an essential requirement of the post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence, consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

 

The post is based at Mountainhall Treatment Centre in Dumfries. However currently the staff team are working predominantly from home with some hybrid working arrangements, which currently includes a 6 weekly in-person office meeting. Going forward, arrangements in regard to hybrid working continue to be under consideration.
