We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Gymnastics Coach to assist in the delivery of our extensive Gymnastics Programme at DG1, Dumfries. This post is 22.5 hours per week, for 40 weeks of the year, predominantly during school term-time. Shared hours could be considered.
This post is fixed term for up to 12 months to cover a maternity leave.
This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
Your role will include delivering school age and pre-school gymnastics as well as and boy’s specific gymnastics sessions and club gymnastics session. You will be responsible for coaching gymnastics sessions and assisting with the administration and promotion of the Gymnastics Scheme.
A UKCC Level 1 Coaching Gymnastics certificate is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, be enthusiastic, reliable and have experience of working with children. You will also have experience of writing and following session plans and the ability to work with varying abilities of gymnasts. You must have excellent customer care skills. Ideally, you will have a background knowledge of Scottish and British Gymnastics, and an understanding of Child Protection. A First Aid Certificate and a knowledge of Health and Safety are desirable.
Instruction will take place during the daytime, evenings and weekends for which this rate of pay is inclusive.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
