Heathhall Primary School is situated in Dumfries Learning Town and has a current mainstream school roll of over 270 pupils and a Nursery with capacity for 60 children.  We are an inclusive, nurturing setting which strives to provide the best quality education for our learners, with the needs of our pupils at the centre of all we do. Heathhall Primary is a school where we strive for all to be active, challenged and engaged in their learning, supported by a committed staff team who provide a high standard of education in a friendly, supportive and inclusive atmosphere. We are currently seeking to appoint two full-time, enthusiastic and dynamic, permanent Depute Headteachers, that display a passion for learning and have experience of driving forward improvement.  The successful candidates will exhibit experience of leading and managing aspects of school improvement priorities and will have demonstrable knowledge of a breadth of teaching skills, pedagogy and practice across various stages.  As part of the school management team, they will assist in steering the strategic direction of the school and nursery as well as lead curricular development across the school, involving all stakeholders.

They should display a strong commitment to working in partnership with staff, parents and the wider community to provide quality learning experiences, helping to equip pupils with the skills to become successful, confident and responsible contributors to the world they live in.

This post represents an excellent opportunity to be innovative in leading and developing high quality learning and teaching, sustaining improvement and raising achievement and attainment with the best outcomes for all our pupils.

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.  

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
