We are looking for a motivated and positive person to manage the daily operations of DG1 Leisure Centre, Dumfries. Our facility has 3 swimming pools, a health suite, 6 court games hall, 2 fitness suites as well as 2 fitness studios and meeting room for hire.
An exciting, challenging and fulfilling role, you will ensure our customers have the best experiences possible whilst using our facilities. To do this you will use your people skills and supervisory experience to motivate and encourage staff within the facility to work together in delivering high quality leisure services.
You will be responsible for ensuring service delivery is compliant with the relevant health and safety policies and that performance information is collated and reported as required. You will also work with your team to promote the services we offer, including Club memberships, and promote the benefits of all areas of our facility.
Possession of a Leisure Qualification to minimum HNC and/or Full ILAM/CIMSPA membership is desirable. A Health and Safety, Pool Plant Operators Certificate and First Aid qualification are essential – if necessary training can be provided for the right candidate.
Candidates must also have good interpersonal skills; be able to work effectively as part of a team and have experience of working in a supervisory capacity. You must also be able to work on your own initiative and be able to meet deadlines when required.
This post will include evening and weekend work. Successful candidates must have a flexible approach regarding hours worked in order to suit the needs of the service.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
