You will be required to work 22.25 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and committed Early Years Support Assistant to join the staff team within Sanquhar Nursery. Sanquhar Nursery is situated within rural Dumfries and Galloway and is currently registered to accommodate 53 pupils. The nursery enrols eligible 2-year-old children and offers 1140hrs to families.
Sanquhar Nursery is very much at the centre of the community and works closely with all partner agencies. It is very well resourced and benefits from a large outdoor area. The Nursery shares space within the school e. g. main hall for sports activities and the large open playground which includes green field areas, climbing wall and garden area. A Learning Centre with a hydrotherapy pool offers support to pupils with additional needs.
This post is fixed term until 1st July 2026 and may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying.
Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Nursery settings may operate between the hours of 8.00am – 6.00pm and employee working patterns will be required to meet the needs of the service.
Applicants for Early Years Support Assistant Posts should be registered with the SSSC.
These posts are considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
