Manufacturing Operative (Fixed Term)
Dumfries
£27,837 - £29,565
Locharmoss Mechanical Biological Treatment plant (MBT), processes municipal waste collected across the Dumfries & Galloway region.
The Manufacturing Operative supports the safe and efficient operation of the MBT facility by carrying out waste processing and manufacturing activities. The role focuses on operating plant and equipment & monitoring material flows in accordance with site procedures and health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Waste Processing Operations
• Assist in processing mixed municipal waste through MBT systems.
• Monitor material flow on conveyor systems to ensure consistent throughput.
• Identify and remove oversized or unsuitable items when safe to do so.
• Monitor the Helios I-detect system.
• Monitor CCTV system. 2.
Plant and Equipment Operation
• Operate assigned machinery and equipment once trained and authorised, including:
o Shredder
o Overhead grabbing cranes
o JCB
o Forklift
o MEWP
• Carry out pre use checks and report defects immediately.
• Follow lock out/tag out procedures during cleaning or clearing blockages.
• Loading of trailers with product.
Any other duties as assigned by Team Leader.
An excellent opportunity has arisen for recruitment within Facilities, Waste and Neighbourhood Services.
We require a Manufacturing Operative at our Mechanical Biological Treatment plant (MBT), Lochar Moss, Dumfries.
You will have a good working knowledge of Health, Safety and Hygiene requirements, in a waste management facility.
You will be required to work both independently and as a member of the wider team.
Previous experience of working in a waste disposal environment and operating plant equipment as listed, would be an advantage but not essential as full training will be provided.
This post is fixed term for up to 12 months. This post may be suitable for secondment or attachment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.
You will be educated to Standard Grade Level.
