Planning Assistant (Development Planning) (5/562M) (Fixed Term)

An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Development Planning team to help the Council progress key aspects of work in preparing the next Local Development Plan for the region, particularly site assessment and policy development. We are looking for an individual who is who is enthusiastic to become involved in this work which will in turn provide invaluable career development experience.

 

Ideally the Council would like to appoint someone with a degree in Planning, Geography, Law or comparable discipline, full or student member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) would be desirable. You must also have a good understanding of the planning system in Scotland, previous development plan and Local Development Plan examination experience would be desirable.

 

You must have a good standard of written and spoken English, have computing skills, be able to prioritise and manage your time properly, work well under pressure and as part of a team, and demonstrate a customer-focussed attitude. A clean current driving licence is essential.

 

The post is Fixed Term for 12 months and part time (21.5 hours) to cover maternity leave and is an ideal opportunity to work with knowledgeable colleagues to learn skills and gain experience at a busy local authority to further a career in town planning.
