Principal Technician Roads Service (Roads Maintenance- East) (17/71)
Dumfries- Lockerbie
£40,470 - £43,437
The Roads Maintenance East division are looking to recruit a Principal Technician.
Based at Wayside Depot, Dumfries, and Harthill Depot, Lockerbie, you will assist and provide support to Senior Officers and other staff in the delivery of a range of roads service activities. This will include the supervision and training of technical staff.
A minimum qualification of HNC level in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) is essential, along with substantial experience in a relevant discipline. Candidates must also demonstrate significant supervisory experience, as well as knowledge and experience in Health and Safety Management, Financial Management, Performance Management and Project and Contract Management.
NRSWA supervisor qualification and, Foundation Management training is desirable
You should have a proven track record and/or sound knowledge of road maintenance activities, legislation relative to a Roads Authority’s obligations for the management and maintenance of the road network. You should also have sound knowledge in contract preparation and project management with supporting knowledge in budgetary control systems and procedures and performance management.
Experience of working in an office environment is essential and you must be computer literate with a good working knowledge of MS Office applications.
You must be flexible, self motivated, able to work under pressure to deadlines, possess good organisational skills and have the confidence to deal with staff, the public and contractors. You should be a team player with good oral/written communication skills. A current full driving licence is essential.
An understanding and knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation, Quality Management Systems and Local Government are essential.
