Quality Improvement Officer (0.6FTE) (Temporary)

In Dumfries and Galloway, we are committed to our children, young people and their families.  We are looking to appoint a positive and highly motivated educational leader who is willing to be brave in leading the continuous improvement of our schools.

 

You will need to have senior education leadership and management experience to be able to take forward our arrangements for school self-evaluation, curriculum support and education policy in early learning, primary and secondary schools.

 

As a Quality Improvement Officer, you will be part of a team to provide guidance and support to schools and early learning centres to continually adapt and improve to meet the needs of all children and young people.  The postholder will support the Heads of Education and Improvement Managers to ensure that the Council delivers its priorities and outcomes for young people whilst meeting its statutory obligations for children 2-18 and to implement strategic and operational arrangements in our schools and early learning centres.  You will contribute to the management, monitoring and implementation of GIRFAL processes and practices to improve outcomes for children and young people.

 

The postholder will report to a Quality Improvement Manager and will act as part of the Education, Skills and Community Wellbeing Directorate Extended Senior Management Team. You will also represent the Council on national forums as appropriate.

 

This is Temporary term until June 2026.

 

This post is a secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post on a secondment basis.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

 

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.
