Dumfries and Galloway Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced maritime professional to join our team as Regional Harbour Master.
This key leadership role is responsible for overseeing operations across all Council-controlled harbours, ensuring compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code, and supporting the safe, efficient, and sustainable management of our ports.
We are looking for a qualified maritime professional with strong leadership and communication skills, proven experience in harbour or marina operations, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards of safety and service. The ideal candidate will be committed to performance management, risk awareness, and promoting equality and sustainability in your work.
As Regional Harbour Master you will manage harbour personnel, infrastructure, and marine safety systems, ensuring compliance with the Port Marine Safety Code, as well as acting as the Port Facilities Security Officer. Working collaboratively with local partners and stakeholders, you will play a vital role in supporting local economies, promoting marine safety, and protecting Dumfries and Galloway’s stunning coastline.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
