We are looking to recruit one Supervisor for the Roads Network Management Team – East. The post is a permanent contract for 36 hours per week.
Role Overview:
You will supervise and organise work groups and individual employees to ensure allocated tasks are completed properly, on time, and in accordance with instructions provided. In addition, you will proactively support the development and continuation of a multi-skilled workforce, and monitor/supervise work tasks related to the maintenance and construction of roads and associated infrastructure. You will also be required to contribute to the Council’s winter maintenance activities, including gritting, snow clearance, and responding to flooding and other out of hour’s incidents.
Operational Duties:
The role may involve operating a full range of road maintenance plant and machinery, including Rollers; Mini excavators; Disc cutters; Breaker units and other small plant and equipment
Health & Safety Commitment:
The safety of our team is our highest priority. You will be required to wear a range of personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure the health and safety of the public, colleagues, and yourself at all times.
Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum qualification in NRSWA (operative and or supervisor)
- Education to SCQF Level 5 (e.g., Standard Grades) or equivalent
- Proven track record and/or sound knowledge of road maintenance activities
- Experience managing a workforce, maintaining staff motivation and discipline, and maximising attendance
- Ability to work without supervision and ensure safe working practices in line with legislation and departmental procedures
- Competent in the use of computers with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Current full driving licence
Skills & Attributes:
- Flexible, self-motivated, and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Strong organisational skills and confidence in dealing with staff, the public, and contractors
- Team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
Additional Requirements:
- Understanding and knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation, Quality Management Systems, and Local Government procedures
