Senior Family Support Worker, Children and Families (1)
Located in the West of Dumfries and Galloway
Base location to be agreed upon appointment.
£35,535 - £38,031
As a valuable member of Children and Families Social Work, as a Senior Family Support Worker in the locality team, you will work independently to support families using relationship based practice through a trauma informed lense. You will also work closely with multi-agency partners to ensure positive outcomes for children, young people and their families. Families tell us that workers who really listen to them, build a good relationship, are flexible and do what they say they will, are the most helpful to them.
If you apply for this job, you should be enthusiastic and creative, you should have a desire to help families to develop their family network and supports in the community so that they do not need Social Work involvement in the future.
You will give families practical help and support to build their confidence and self-esteem. You will support them with parenting, establishing routines and boundaries. You will respond to families in critical times and support the adults in a child’s life to make safer choices that prevent the child being harmed. You will spend time with children and young people and will write assessments and Child’s Plans in partnership with them and the team around them. You will listen to the views of children, young people and their families and develop their own ideas for their families.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
