Senior Social Worker (2) (13/605) (16/430)

Dumfries & Galloway

£50,811 - £54,735

Justice Social Work is looking to recruit two Senior Social Workers to manage the community supervision teams in the West and the East of the region. The teams deliver front-line Justice Social Work services across Dumfries and Galloway.

The core duties provided by the team include the provision of social work services to the Courts and Parole Board, and the supervision of offenders subject to statutory orders and post custodial licences, and the management and delivery of personal change initiatives. The teams cover all aspects of community team supervision; preparation of court reports, parole reports, case management of a range of community orders, the development of risk management plans and the reintegration of those subject to post custodial sentences. The typology of cases ranges from Multi Agency Public Protection (MAPPA) measures, to those whose offending is related to drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health and sexual offences.

The successful candidate will therefore have experience and knowledge of these service delivery areas and be able to demonstrate an ability to motivate and encourage team members to perform to their best ability and to strive towards continuous development and improvement.

The post holder is also part of the Justice Management Team and will be expected to work in partnership with their fellow managers to deliver operations and contribute to service developments. A degree of budget oversight in relation to their team will also be expected.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.

Requirements

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

The post holder will have line management responsibility for a team of social workers and will be line managed by a Justice Social Work Team Manager.
