Social Work Manager Adult Services (16/959M) (Fixed Term)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to cover this post on a fixed‑term basis for up to 12 months to support a period of maternity leave. This is a key management role with responsibility for overseeing and co‑ordinating the work of the Care Home Tactical Team. The post holder will lead significant programmes of work focused on strengthening collaboration and partnership working with local care homes.

 

This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for this post.

 

This includes supporting the implementation of health and wellbeing objectives for people living in care homes as detailed in My Health, My Care, My Home: Health Care framework for adults living in Care Homes. Wider responsibilities of the team include contributing to and improving whole system flow and improving care home market viability and sustainability.

 

In addition to responsibilities directly related to the work of the Care Home Tactical Team, the post holder will provide strategic leadership for the local Activity and Resource Centres (ARCs) and contribute to the strategic development of housing-related initiatives locally. You must demonstrate experience that aligns with the essential criteria outlined in the attached Person Specification.

You will ensure the provision of Adult Social Work Services meets all legislative duties, council policies and quality standards, and contribute to the tactical implementation relevant plans pertaining to social work services.

A DipSW/CQSW/CSS qualification or equivalent is essential as is registration with the Scottish Social Services Council. Participation in the out of hours Emergency Duty Service is a requirement of this post.  You will have a relevant post qualifying award. An accredited management/leadership qualification is desirable.

Finally, You will be able to build and sustain professional relationships across all of our partner agencies and be able to work productively and effectively in a multi-agency context.


This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
