Support Technician / Trainee Support Technician – Voice (18/734)
Dumfries
£27,837 - £34,632
We are seeking an enthusiastic team player to join our Voice Team as a Support Technician. If you have a keen interest in ICT, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn and excel, this role is for you.
As a member of our team, you will contribute to providing effective, secure, and robust telecommunications services. Your responsibilities will include administering the Council's converged telephony services, including mobile phones and desk phones, and managing the systems used for these services. You should have a sound knowledge of general ICT infrastructure and be hardworking and eager to learn. You will provide advice and process internal customer requests related to corporate telephony moves and changes. Staying updated with emerging relevant technologies and assisting in the rollout of new technologies will also be part of your role. Additionally, you will ensure the quality and accuracy of the corporate telephony network asset database and mobile asset register. You will provide first-line assistance for fault diagnosis, problem-solving, user support for telecommunications equipment, and network fault escalation.
You should be able to work unsupervised when required and be confident in liaising with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
A recognised academic qualification (Educated to SCQF Level 7, e.g., HNC / SVQ Level 3) or equivalent, or moderate experience in ICT support in a domain network environment is essential. Microsoft certification and a Cisco Networking qualification are desirable.
An ability to travel is essential for this post, as there will be a requirement to attend sites across the Council area. Your main base will be in Dumfries, and you will be expected to attend the office weekly and, as needed, travel to various council sites. However, hybrid working from home or another office can be accommodated on occasions by arrangement.
This post is subject to candidate vetting through Disclosure Scotland.
Salary placing is dependent on experience and qualifications.
