Are you passionate about providing high quality swimming tuition and looking for a new challenge? Swimming teaching is a highly rewarding role which teaches people a valuable life-skill and we are looking for someone who would like to join our team and be instrumental in this.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic and self-motivated Swimming Teachers to assist in the delivery of our DG1 Swimming Programme which includes Learn to Swim and Education Swimming Sessions. Working hours can include mornings, afternoons/evenings and a Saturday morning. Job shares will be considered, so we would welcome applications from anyone who wants to be a Swimming Teacher, even if it’s for a smaller amount of hours as the hours available are spread throughout the week and if you are the right candidate we would hope to be able to accommodate you.

You will be responsible for instructing swimming lessons and assisting with the administration and promotion of swimming lessons as and when required.

You will ideally possess a current Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (SSTQ) or a UKCC Level 2 Teaching Aquatics certificate, or equivalent. A UKCC Level 1 Teaching Aquatics certificate is essential. You will have excellent communication skills, be enthusiastic, reliable and have experience of teaching children and adults. You will also have experience of writing and following lesson plans and the ability to work with varying abilities of swimmers. You must have excellent customer care skills. Ideally you will have a background knowledge of the Dumfries & Galloway Council Learn to Swim Scheme, and an understanding of Child Protection. A First Aid Certificate and knowledge of Health and Safety are desirable.
