A location amidst farmland with an outlook to the granite forested hills of the Stewartry beyond provides a magnificent setting for the school campus, which is shared with Dalbeattie Primary School. Our Council’s vision is to make Dumfries and Galloway the best place in Scotland to live, learn, work, visit and grow. Our Education Service contributes to this vision because it is as unique as the area itself. We are proud of our rich mix of schools - large and small, urban and rural, partnership and all-through. Our purpose is clear and simple – to increase achievement, attainment and participation for all young people 2-18 by maximising the opportunity for our staff to develop and innovate through collaborative working.
We believe in developing the autonomy of schools, Headteachers and their staff to facilitate the highest quality learning and teaching. We continue to use our resources in innovative ways to ensure we build on our investment in staff and their practice, and this is reflected in continued improvements to attainment, achievement and participation.
We are committed to our teachers, evidenced by the provision of high quality professional learning opportunities for all.
Dumfries and Galloway provides opportunities to enjoy a rich and diverse quality of life for singles, couples and families in this magical corner of Scotland; the experiences on offer are as varied as the stunning landscape. From outdoor pursuits to nationally recognised arts festivals, there are activities and opportunities for all. Furthermore, good quality travel links bring major centres of population within easy reach.
