We are looking to appoint a Teacher of Technical Education (35 hours per week) to join our supportive, experienced team and contribute to high-quality learning and teaching at Dumfries High School.

Dumfries High School is a six-year secondary with a current roll of 936, drawing young people from many local primary schools across Dumfries and beyond, including our 9 associated primary schools.   The school is entering an exciting new chapter with a £53 million investment in a state-of-the-art new facility, due for completion in June 2026. This modern learning environment will provide exceptional facilities designed to inspire and motivate our learners.

Dumfries High School has a long-standing record of strong academic attainment and has this year been named in The Times Scottish School League Table top 50 for the third successive year.
Our dedicated staff team is committed to delivering the highest-quality learning experiences for every young person. We aim to create the conditions in which learners can achieve their potential and develop skills for leadership, learning, life and work through a wide range of curricular and extra-curricular opportunities. The Senior Leadership Team currently comprises three Depute Headteachers and a School Support Manager.

This post forms part of Dumfries Learning Town schools and/or The Bridge to deliver courses as part of the BGE and /or senior phase curriculum as appropriate to meet the needs of our learners. 

A significant relocation package of up to £5000 may be available to the successful candidate (Permanent positions only).  Please see attached guidance for further information.   

Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector. 
 
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.   
 
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
