This post offers an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced surveyor to lead our Building Standards team. If you are looking for a new challenge then this could be the perfect place for your next step. These are vibrant times in the beautiful south-west of Scotland with innovative projects and regeneration initiatives attracting significant investment and interest to our region.
As the Team Leader Building Standards, you will manage the team which processes all building warrant and other related applications and ensure that this is done in an efficient, effective, economical and customer orientated way. You will be the lead officer for the Building Standards function and will provide professional and related services advice to the Council, Members, Statutory Bodies and the general public.
You must be a corporate member of the RICS and have at least 5 years post-MRICS experience of working in Building Standards, preferably in a Scottish rural area. You will have a thorough knowledge of the current Building Standards regulations, legislation and procedures, ideally within the Scottish system. You will have a customer-focused attitude and will be an independent decision-maker but will work well within the management team. You will have a proven track record of demonstrating leadership, good judgement and diplomacy and will be a skilled negotiator, and have a good standard of written and spoken English. You must be able to prioritise and work to deadlines. A current driving licence is essential.
The Council operates hybrid working arrangements, which offer a combination of office, remote and home working options.
