Roads & Infrastructure are looking to recruit a technician electrician to work 36 hours per week, within the Street Lighting Section of Road Network Management covering the West of Dumfries and Galloway.
Based at Roads Service operational depot at Barnkirk Road, Newton Stewart, you will assist and provide support to Team Leader Road Network Management and the Street Lighting Team Leader, with the delivery of road lighting maintenance activities:
- Carry out various duties relative to installation and maintenance of electrical operations for reactive and planned maintenance throughout Dumfries and Galloway Region
- Responsible for the safety, technical standard and quality of electrical installation work completed by Roads Services
- Ensuring that the results of inspection and testing are recorded correctly on the appropriate certificates or reports
- Ensuring that the premises, equipment, documentation, and records are available for inspection when required by NICEIC or equivalent bodies and capital investment projects as well as supporting other sections within the Roads Service.
Candidates should have a minimum qualification to 17th Edition Qualified be Time Served. 18th Edition Qualification is desirable as is, Inspection Testing Certificate Electrical Installation (City & Guilds 2391).
It is desirable that you have knowledge in the following areas, electrical systems, knowledge of road lighting maintenance activities relative to a Roads Authority’s obligations for the management and maintenance of the road network.
You must be flexible, self-motivated, able to work under pressure to deadlines, possess good organisational skills and have the confidence to deal with staff, the public and contractors. You should be a team player with good oral/written communication skills.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
