Based at Culhorn Depot, Stranraer, this post is part of the Transportation DGC Buses Team, which delivers transport solutions for schools and communities. You will be required to work 36 hours per week over 52 weeks per year.
Key Responsibilities:
• Liaise with and maintain effective relationships with internal and external colleagues, individuals, and organisations. Ensure clear communication and appropriate responses to complex enquiries and service needs.
• Accurately prepare and present a range of documents, including reports, minutes, and correspondence. Support, administer, and record meetings both internally and externally as required.
• Perform a wide variety of administrative support tasks with minimal supervision. This includes scheduling events or training sessions, arranging appointments and meetings, and assisting in the coordination of service activities.
Essential Criteria:
• Educated to SVQ Level 5 or equivalent in a relevant subject.
• Proven supervisory experience in people management and performance oversight.
• Extensive experience in contract management.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages.
• Familiarity with general office procedures and administrative best practices.
A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.
Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
