Casual Supervisor

Dumfries and Stranraer

£14.85 per hour

The Unpaid Work Team within Justice Social Work is looking to recruit casual supervisors, to work variable hours, primarily weekends although some week day cover might occasionally be required, to assist in the delivery of unpaid work and other activities under the Community Payback Scheme, as ordered by courts as a possible part of community disposal.

The posts will be involved in supervising groups of individuals across the region and can be based at Dumfries or Stranraer, but cover might also be required in other parts of the region. The post is to support an established team and work will be on a casual basis including weekend cover.

Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of working independently and in groups or teams. Skills in training and supervising individuals and previous experience in working with offenders would be an advantage. They must have a good understanding of the needs of offenders and be able to work in a non-judgemental manner using pro social modelling skills.

They must also have a good understanding of Health and Safety legislation and be able to demonstrate the ability to work safely and within national and local health and safety procedures.

This post is considered as Regulated Work Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.

A current driving licence is an essential requirement of this post. However, if you have a disability which precludes you from holding a driving licence consideration will be given if alternative transport can be arranged.
