Early Learning and Childcare Equity and Excellence Lead (7/06934)

Dumfries

£31,385.76 - £33,692.66

We are seeking to appoint an Early Learning and Childcare Equity and Excellence Lead, based at MaxPlay 2 Nursery in Lincluden.  You will be required to work 36 hours per week, 39 weeks per year.  This position is likely start in October 2024.

Children need access to highly qualified staff with expertise in early childhood learning and development. Scottish Government fund ten additional posts in Dumfries and Galloway to work directly with children and families to support learning and development to close the attainment gap. This is an exciting opportunity to lead and support quality experiences for children and families in areas of deprivation. MaxPlay 2 has recently benefited from a full refurbishment, making it an exciting opportunity to work in a bright, purpose-built environment.

As an employee of Dumfries and Galloway Council you will be working as part of the Early Learning and Childcare team within a funded provider. You will lead and contribute to quality early interventions and undertake research to improve outcomes for children.

You will be required to hold the BA in Childhood Practice, Professional Development Award, Certificate / Diploma in Early Childhood Studies or other relevant advanced qualification or be working towards it. Candidates must have a minimum of 4 years’ experience working in Early Learning and Childcare.

You must hold a relevant qualification that enables you to register with The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) as a Practitioner of Day Care Children’s Services (without conditions).  A list of qualifications can be found on the SSSC Website.

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
