We are seeking to appoint a dynamic leader with vision and a passion for learning who will, along with a generous management team, lead learning at North West Community Campus Primary School including Nursery and Learning Centre. This position is temporary for a period of up to 23 months. This post offers an exciting opportunity to shape educational provision and is supported by a Depute Headteachers and Principal Teachers.

North West Community Campus Primary School is a modern state of the art setting, which opened in 2019. The setting shares facilities including a library which is used by both schools and members of the community. The campus has extensive sports facilities both internally and externally that are also used by the community. These include a full-size rugby/football pitch as well as a 3G and 2G pitch, a sports hall, gym and a fitness suite. In addition to the sports facilities the outside space includes external learning and play areas. The school is seen not just as a place of learning but also as a facility that is at the heart of the community, for the community.

 

The school is supported by a warm and welcoming community with active an active parent council. Dumfries and Galloway’s approach to Education looks to combine the traditional values and ethos. Our authority has been recognised as having a clear focus on building staff skills to improve learning and teaching, raise attainment and develop strong leadership at all levels.

Applicants will have proven leadership qualities and experience in primary education and be committed to very high standards of achievement.

 

Applicants are required to be fully registered in primary education with the General Teaching Council of Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT and be able to demonstrate that they have, through both experience and professional development, met the criteria in the Standard for Headship.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
