Learning Assistant (Fixed Term)

North West Community Campus - Primary

We are seeking to appoint a capable and enthusiastic Learning Assistant to work in North West Community Campus Cluster based within North West Community Campus Primary setting. You will be required to support pupils with additional support needs to overcome barriers to their learning and reach their full potential either in Learning Centres or mainstream classes.

The post is working 21.75 hours per week, term time working so hours are over 39 weeks per year.  Applications will be considered for part time hours.  The 21.75 hours will be worked over 4 days and will include a Friday.  There can be flexibility around the other days.

 

This post is fixed term until August 2025.

 

The post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your line manager must be sought before applying for the post.

 

The successful candidates must be educated to SCQF Level 4 (e.g. Standard Grade General, National 4) or equivalent, including Numeracy and Literacy or equivalent and experience of working with children and/or young people. Experience of working with children/young people with additional support needs, would be advantageous. A willingness to undertake training will be required.


This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.


Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
