Hoddom Primary School is looking for a Learning Assistant, funded by the Pupil Equity Fund (PEF) for 20 hours per week, 39 weeks per year to August 2025. This post is to assist the school in raising attainment. Main duties include supporting learners in small groups to undertake targeted interventions and run small Nurture groups as well as some Playground Supervision.

 

The successful candidate for this post will be experienced in providing a nurturing environment which is welcoming, caring, calm, safe and purposeful and that, within a nurturing ethos, stretch our learners academically, support them pastorally and develop them socially and emotionally. The successful candidate will be supported to work collaboratively with existing school staff within a nurture room and providing individual support. They will follow the duties as outlined within the job description.

 

Applicants must be educated at Standard Grade Level 3 (or equivalent) in English and Math’s and have prior experience of working with children and young people. The successful candidate for this post will be expected to support pupils with a range of additional support needs, including learning needs, medical diagnosis, and social and emotional needs. They will follow the duties as outlined within the job description.

 

This post may be suitable for secondment. Agreement from your Line Manager must be sought before applying for this post.


This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under
the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. From 28 February
2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or
undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment
being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.


Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if
offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required
to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the
country or countries in which they were resident.
