We are looking to recruit a full-time Teacher Primary within St Joseph’s RC Primary School until August 2025. The school forms part of the newly formed Portpatrick and St Joseph’s RC Partnership. The successful candidate will provide effective learning and teaching and should demonstrate a commitment to creating a quality learning environment. They will carry out related activities and developments following local, national and school policies under the direction of the Headteacher.

 

St Joseph's Primary's parent body actively works in cooperation with our school, and we benefit from being part of a supportive community. Our school has strong connections with our local parish. Our school promotes a strong pupil voice where our children are positive, responsible citizens.

 

This position may be suitable for secondment and Line Management approval should be sought before applying for the position.

 

In line with Section 21 (2A) of the Education (Scotland) Act 1980 the successful candidate for this post will require to have the approval of the Roman Catholic Church. Applicants for teaching posts must be registered with the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS), Clerwood House, 96 Clermiston Road, Edinburgh, EH12 6UT in the appropriate sector.

 

This post is considered as Regulated Work with Vulnerable Children, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  From 28 February 2011, preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check prior to formal offer of employment being made by Dumfries and Galloway Council.

 

Applicants who have been resident outside the UK within the last 5 years, if offered a position, in addition to a Disclosure Scotland Check, will be required to provide a completed police record check from the police authority in the country or countries in which they were resident.
