Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city.

We have a range of exciting opportunities to join our vibrant Active Schools team as well as the wider Leisure and Culture network, delivering sports opportunities across the city.
We are currently seeking to recruit Lead Sports Coaches to deliver within our school and community programmes, holiday programmes, working with mainly the P1-P7 age group. There are a variety of hours available.
Our programmes involves a variety of sports and activities that provide participants with the opportunity to develop core motor skills, develop spatial awareness, developing relationships and engaging in lifelong participation in the sport. The post holder will be responsible for delivering in school and community settings and sport centres during term time, holidays and/or extracurricular.
Our programmes will require an enthusiastic coach to plan and deliver engaging content whilst also developing each individual and helping to develop a love for sport and physical activity that will encourage lifelong participation in sport. We are looking for someone who can confidently work on their own, but also as part of a team.
This post is for a casual coach. Times of work and locations are changeable depending on the needs of the programme.
For casual work, when work is available you will be contacted. There is no obligation for Leisure & Culture Dundee to offer you work, nor are you obliged to accept work. The rate of pay is £11.41 per hour.Requirements
You will hold a SCQF Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) or a vast coaching experience. Or have Advanced Certificate or HNC relevant equivalent qualifications, or a vast coaching experienceResponsibilities
As part of a dynamic Leisure and Sport Section, you will also contribute to the section’s social objectives by planning, developing and delivering a variety of sports programmes to many participants/groups, in schools/communities within the Active Schools team and LACD servicesThe Individual
You must have a general interest in a delivering a variety of sports, as well as relevant experience in practical paid / voluntary sports coaching placements.
You must have excellent organisational and planning skills with the ability to work in a team as well as independently. You must be strongly self-motivated with excellent communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with children and young people.
You must have experience of working with children from a variety of backgrounds in a physical activity setting. As well as this, you must have experience of working with Early Years or Primary & Secondary School aged children.
You will also have been involved with the planning of session, which must be fun, safe, and engaging to encourage children to return to the sessions. You will have excellent communication skills to ensure kids are engaged throughout the session as well as parents/carers kept up to date with any relevant information. The individual will show excellent interpersonal skills that enable you to work effectively and engage will all members of the team.
You will show empathy and understanding towards colleagues and participants. A flexible and adaptable attitude is essential for the successful delivery of the sessions. You must be enthusiastic when delivering to ensure that sessions are safe, quality and engaging. This would include appropriate group management.
This post is considered Regulated Work with Children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being offered by Leisure & Culture Dundee
