An exciting opportunity has become available within Active Dundee’s City Sports Section for a Duty Manager. As part of an established team of eight Duty Managers, you will play a key role in the safe and effective day-to-day operation of Active Dundee’s sports facilities across the city.
You will have shared responsibility for overseeing operational delivery, ensuring high standards of health and safety, and providing an excellent, customer-focused service across the full sports estate. This includes the Regional Performance Centre for Sport, Dundee International Sports Centre, Douglas Sports Centre, Menzieshill Community Hub, McTaggart Gymnastics Centre, and the Community School Estate.
The role operates on an 8-person rolling rota, averaging 37 hours per week, and includes evening and weekend working. You will be based across the various sports centres throughout the city.
Applicants should have extensive experience within the sports or leisure industry and possess strong managerial knowledge and capabilities. You will be expected to demonstrate excellent organisational skills and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service. While experience in a swimming pool environment is desirable, full training will be provided.
A full, clean driving licence is essential.

Day to day responsibility for effective management of all Leisure Attendants, Reception staff and Lifeguards.

Applicants should hold an HNC in a sport-related discipline or have equivalent relevant practical experience. A National Pool Supervisor Qualification is required, or you must be willing to complete this training within 6–12 months of appointment.
You will be able to lead, support and motivate a team of staff, demonstrating the ability to prioritise competing demands, meet deadlines consistently, and resolve issues effectively.
Strong decision‑making and administrative skills are essential, along with a high standard of customer service. You should be computer literate and possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
You must take accountability for your own work and that of your team, demonstrate emotional awareness, and build positive working relationships. This includes showing empathy and understanding of others’ perspectives, maintaining an open and approachable manner, and encouraging effective communication.
The successful candidate will be adaptable and resilient, able to respond positively to change and work effectively under pressure. Reliability, honesty and integrity are essential qualities for this role.
