Job Description

Leisure & Culture Dundee is a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) SC042421. It was established by Dundee City Council in July 2011 to deliver leisure, sports, library, information and cultural services for the city. www.leisureandculturedundee.com We have a range of exciting opportunities to join our vibrant Sport Development coaching team delivering sports opportunities across the city.

NGB Award in any sport or Sports Leaders Award level 2 or NC Sports Coaching or SVQ Level 2 Sports Coaching Award, relevant coaching experience

Responsibilities

As part of a dynamic Active Dundee Service, you will Lead in the planning and delivery of classes within the current citywide physical activity and sports programme, delivering tailored activities suited to your abilities across Active Dundee facilities, school and community areas. You will Lead in delivering a physical activity and sport programmes whilst adhering, where relevant, to Scottish Governing Body (SGB) guidelines and specified coach to participant ratios.

The Individual

The candidate should hold one of the following, NGB Award in any sport, a Sports Leaders Award at Level 2, an NC in Sports Coaching, or an SVQ Level 2 Sports Coaching Award. They should also have practical experience in paid or voluntary sports coaching, as well as experience working with children from diverse backgrounds. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of planning and delivering structured activity or sports sessions, demonstrating excellent organisational and planning skills. They must be capable of working both independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of self-motivation. Effective communication skills are essential, particularly when engaging with children and young people. The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, be flexible and adaptable, and exhibit strong leadership qualities. Additionally, they should have the ability to motivate and inspire others. A willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends, when necessary, is required, as is a commitment to ongoing personal development. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
