Responsibilities

To lead the Housing Options and Lettings Team and contribute to, or assist with, the development and implementation of Housing Services, ensuring the service meets its requirements of best value and continuous improvement, empowers employees, encourages innovation and rewards performance. To oversee and manage provision of the City Council’s statutory services to homeless persons, including the provision of advice and assistance on all aspects of housing in the public and private sector, relative to the implementation of all relevant legislation and Council policies, a one door Housing Options approach, incorporating the Council’s Lettings Centre and all its associated activities and areas of responsibility, including Housing Support and the Homefinder Service.

The Individual

You will have relevant Housing experience including a period of relevant supervisory experience. You will have the ability to competently handle a wide range of issues across the work of the Housing Service. You will have the ability to establish good working relationships with elected members and partners, e.g. tenants and officers in other departments and organisations. You will have knowledge of current environment and the ability to drive change. You will have effective budget management skills and the ability to demonstrate track record of achievement. This post is considered Regulated Work with Children and/or Protected Adults, under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check, prior to a formal offer of employment being made by Dundee City Council.
