Job Description

Requirements

You will have a Degree in a relevant discipline (eg sustainability/ climate change, geography, environmental management or similar).

Responsibilities

As a member of the Sustainability and Climate Change team, you will support the strategic delivery of the Council’s sustainable development, climate emergency and carbon management commitments, ensuring that the Council is an exemplar in these fields. You will play a key role in working with partner organisations and external stakeholders to foster inter-agency co-operation and implement initiatives to support the city’s net-zero ambitions. You will be responsible for providing a range of professional support services across the objectives of the team as well as leading on individual workstreams to support both Council and city-wide targets for net-zero. You will take a leading role within specific duties, in line with Council, and citywide strategic priorities and ambitions. You may be required to undertake roles and responsibility for other areas as required.

The Individual

You will have experience of working within a team to develop and deliver projects along with a knowledge of sustainable development issues particularly climate change or carbon management. You will have the ability to communicate effectively through a variety of methods including oral and written and the ability to research and write clear and concise reports with recommendations. You will have strong management information, database and spreadsheet skills and experience of Microsoft packages. You will have the ability to work with a range of multi-disciplined teams working across various project initiatives along with a willingness to learn new skills and undertake training as necessary. You will have the ability to work outwith office times and travel as required.
