What we do:
We provide a professional valuation service for the Perth & Kinross, Dundee City and Angus Council areas in respect of compilation and maintenance of the Valuation Rolls and Valuation (Council Tax) Lists. We also compile and maintain the Registers of Electors for Perth & Kinross and Angus.

Requirements
Applicants should be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (Valuation Faculty) and preferably have knowledge and/or experience in valuation for rating and council tax purposes.
Applicants with a cognate RICS degree, and who are currently undertaking the Assessment of Professional competence on a relevant pathway, are also welcome to apply.
Due to the large geographical area covered by West Division, a full driving licence and access to a car / assisted travel arrangement is required.
Responsibilities
Who we are looking for:
Tayside Valuation Joint Board has an exciting opportunity for someone to join our valuation staff, as either a Valuer or Trainee Valuer.
This is a permanent full time position (37 hours per week), based in our West Division office, located at Robertson House, Whitefriars Crescent, Perth.
At Valuer level, responsibilities will include the inspection, measurement and valuation of a wide range of properties for rating purposes; the survey, valuation and banding of dwellings for Council Tax purposes; discussion and negotiation with taxpayers and professional agents; preparing cases for and appearing as an expert witness at First-tier Tribunal hearings and assisting in the supervision/training of Trainee Valuers and Technical Assistants.
As a Trainee Valuer, responsibilities will include assisting other members of the valuation/technical team with the survey, valuation and banding of dwellings for Council Tax purposes and the inspection, measurement and valuation of a wide range of properties for non-domestic rating purposes.
As training and experience progresses, opportunities will arise for discussion and negotiation with both taxpayers and professional agents; in addition to assisting in the preparation of cases for hearing before the First-tier Tribunal for Scotland.
The Individual
You must have a positive, professional, and responsible attitude, excellent communication, negotiation and team working skills and a sound knowledge of Information Technology, particularly Microsoft applications. Applicants must also be able to work on their own initiative and should have the ability to multi-task, while ensuring strict deadlines are achieved.
