Service Manager (Family Support & Young People)

Job Description

East Ayrshire is seeking to recruit into  the role of Service Manager for Children and Families Social Work Services.  As a service Manager, you will play a critical role in leading and transforming services for some of our most vulnerable children, young people and families. We are looking for an inspirational leader with the vision, credibility and ambition to drive excellence in practice, champion children's rights and deliver meaningful change. Working across complex partnerships and leading a diverse portfolio of services, you will ensure high-quality safeguarding, family support and care services while shaping future provision in line with The Promise and Scotland's wider public service reform agenda. Please note there is a requirement to provide on call cover on evenings, weekends and public holidays.

 

Requirements

The duties of the post involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful applicants for such posts will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member in respect of Regulated Work with either or both of these groups as appropriate, or if they are already a Scheme member, be subject to a PVG Scheme Record Update, before any formal offer of employment can be made by East Ayrshire Council.

Please note:- PVG members' records are constantly updated with any new vetting information that arises.  Any information that is disclosed on a PVG Scheme Record or Scheme Record Update, if relevant to the post being applied for, will be discussed with the applicant prior to any formal offer of employment being made.

 

Employment References

We follow the national guidance in relation to pre-employment checks namely “Safer Recruitment Through Better Recruitment”.  With regards to requests for references and in line with this guidance, during your application process you should provide details of a minimum of two appropriate and relevant references, one of which should be from your current or most recent employer.  It is also a requirement that the reference from your current or most recent employer is from an appropriate senior manager and it is not a reference from a former peer operating at the same level.

 

Additional Information

This is a full time permanent post based within Family Support & Young People.

Salary Information

The successful candidate will have the option of being appointed on either East Ayrshire Council or NHS Ayrshire & Arran terms and conditions.

• EAC 35hrs per week Annual Salary - £61,243 - £65,975.

• NHS 36 hrs per week Annual Salary - Band 8A - £65,125 - £70,303

Recruitment Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend an Assessment Centre on TBC.

Thereafter, for those candidates selected for interview, out interviews will take place on TBC
