Job Description

  • The role requires an experienced manager and qualified social worker who is educated to degree level/or has demonstrable relevant experience.
  • Passionate about supporting people and helping every individual achieve their outcomes, you will provide leadership, support and supervision to operational team managers/ team leaders within the field of mental health and learning disability services. As such you will be able to manage and lead a team of experienced multi-disciplinary professionals. Teams will include LD Nursing and Social Work Teams, Day Services, community supports, supported accommodation, respite and Strategic housing.
  • The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate continuing professional development which will enable them to provide effective leadership and management.
  • As a member of the senior leadership team, the successful candidate will be support Wellbeing and Recovery in delivering strategic aims and objectives, including transformation plans
  • In addition you will be required to support clinical and care governance activity. This will include the monitoring of standards of clinical care and service delivery, investigating complaints, providing staff support, supervision, implementation of policy, clinical/care guidelines, research and audit.
  • The successful candidate will ensure effective partnership arrangements are in place with local partners and stakeholders.

Requirements

The duties of the post involve Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.  Successful applicants for such posts will be required to become a Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme member in respect of Regulated Work with either or both of these groups as appropriate, or if they are already a Scheme member, be subject to a PVG Scheme Record Update, before any formal offer of employment can be made by East Ayrshire Council.

Please note:- PVG members' records are constantly updated with any new vetting information that arises.  Any information that is disclosed on a PVG Scheme Record or Scheme Record Update, if relevant to the post being applied for, will be discussed with the applicant prior to any formal offer of employment being made.

Additional Information

This is a full time permanent post based within Mental Health - Learning Disabilities.

The workstyle for this post is ‘Mobile’ - 20-49% of your time in an office or other work location.

You will work at your administrative base or another agreed office location between 1 to 2.5 days per week and the remainder of the week at home or other work locations as required.

The admin base for this post is the Johnnie Walker Bond, Kilmarnock.

Selection Process

Stage One – Longleet – This will take place week commencing 15th April.

This stage will consider the criteria set out in the person specification for qualifications and experience.

Stage Two – Assessment Centre – This will take place week commencing 29th April.

Only those whose evidence meets the highest standard expected for this role across all essential selection criteria will be shortlisted for attendance at the assessment centre.

Stage Three – Shortleet – This will take place week commencing 13th May.

This stage will consider the results of the Assessment Centre with candidates who are successful in the assessment process being invited to the final stage.

Stage Four – Final Interview and Presentation – This will take place week commencing 20th May.

This stage will involve a panel interview and a presentation designed to assess your experience and leadership behaviours.

Salary Information

The successful candidate will have the option of being appointed on either East Ayrshire Council or NHS Ayrshire & Arran terms and conditions.

• EAC 35hrs per week Annual Salary - £56,857 - £61,243

• NHS 37.5hrs per week Annual Salary - Band 8A £56,992 - £61,522
