Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen for the role of Council Officer, within the Chief Executive’s Office.
Reporting to the Business Manager – Chief Executive’s Office - the post holder will work with Elected Members, officers, contractors, partner organisations and members of public, helping to ensure that Council business is delivered efficiently and professionally.
This is a varied role combining Civic and elected member support, and responsibility for effective operation of council building and facilities.
As Council Officer, you will:
• Ensure safety and security of all attendees at Council and Committee meetings within the Southbank Marina and other locations as required. You will ensure a safe environment is provided to employees and users by complying Health & Safety Regulations and Policy and Procedures.
• Liaise with the Facilities Coordinator for the Marina and Estates Management relating to the effective provision of facilities management, including cleaning and any maintenance requirements.
• Provide support to all Elected members and senior officers of the Council in carrying out their official duties within the Council and community; and work with Members’ Services and the Corporate Communications team to coordinate arrangements for corporate events, civic events and the Council Leader’s office and the Civic office. Duties will include building security, diary management, liaising with officers and external agencies; chauffeuring, dealing with enquiries from the public and being cognisant of GDPR/data protection and records management protocols.
You will also have a role in supporting a variety of civic functions and events.
We are looking for an organised, proactive and customer focussed individual.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a political and public sector environment, able to handle sensitive information appropriately and capable of managing competing priorities with accuracy and discretion.
The postholder will be required to work additional hours, including evenings/weekends, when necessary to meet the needs of the service.

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria. Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council. Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check.
