Job Summary

This post is only available to all permanent and temporary employees and agency workers currently on assignment within East Dunbartonshire Council.

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to assist in the day to day operational management and leadership of the Local Area Coordination team, the Outreach Team and to oversee the recruitment and deployment of volunteers within ED HSCP Adult Day Services. The successful applicant will ensure effective and safe delivery of services, including evening and weekend activities, which promote and maximise the safety and independence of the individual as well as proving people with social opportunities, therefore assisting them to reach their capacity and potential.

The Team Leader post is based at Southbank House, Kirkintilloch though the successful applicant would be expected to oversee support provided to adults with learning disabilities and/or autism in various locations throughout East Dunbartonshire. The successful candidate will require to provide leadership and support in the provision of a person centered approach for individual service users as well as in assessment of individual needs. They will also provide staff and volunteers with professional support, guidance and supervision, and, participate and contribute to the writing of strategic plans. The post holder will also be expected to work with partner agencies in order to plan and establish new groups and activities.

Previous experience of working in Adult Day Services is required. At least two years previous experience in social care would be required.

There will be a requirement for flexible working in order to provide leadership in some evening and weekend activities.

PVG / Disclosure Scotland

The following criteria applies to all roles within East Dunbartonshire Council where PVG/Disclosure checks are essential criteria.

Where the post you are applying for is considered a Regulated Role under the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020, successful candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check, prior to confirmation of employment being made by East Dunbartonshire Council.

Please note, successful candidates will be expected to meet the cost of the relevant check which will be deducted from the successful candidate’s first salary payment. Successful candidates who withdraw their application after the check process has started will be invoiced for the cost of the check.

In specific circumstances the payment could be deducted in instalments from an employee’s wages following commencement of employment. Approval in such circumstances will be made by the HR &OD Manager.

Should an employee leave in advance of the payment being deducted, the full amount will be deducted from the employee’s final salary.

The criteria outlined above will apply to existing employees of East Dunbartonshire Council who apply for roles for which a PVG/Disclosure check is required.
