Vacancy Information

The salary advertised is full time (35 hours per week, 52 weeks per year).  Part-time hours / sessional posts will be pro-rated accordingly.

Hourly rate of pay:  £12.42-£13.45
This is a 38-week sessional post i.e., working hours will be during school term time only.

Temporary until 31st March 2024
Days and hours of work:
Monday - Thursday, 09:15-15:00 (less breaks)
Friday, 09:15-12:15

We are seeking a nurturing and passionate person to support learners with additional support needs in our nursery.  Our children love being outdoors, playing in water and with mud so the successful candidate will be someone who loves to get their sleeves rolled up and enjoy the outdoors too!

We welcome applications from candidates who can:

- Use a nurturing approach to support the children's wellbeing and daily experiences within the nursery environment and all weathers.

- Provide support to the children in working towards achieving their individual Smart Targets.

- Develop a knowledge and awareness of West Barns Nursery ethos.

- Provide individual care to meet the children's physical, medical and nutritional needs.

- Work closely with the nursery team through effective communication.

To provide care and assistance to individuals and small groups of pupils with additional
support needs.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Good standard of general education
Experience of working with or caring for children with additional support needs

Nursery Only: SSSC registration or agreement to register within 6 months from the date of appointment to this post is essential.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups are required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
