We are looking for a highly organised and detail-focused individual to join our IT Service Desk & Desktop Services team. This role is central to ensuring the effective day-to-day operation of IT services across East Lothian Council, supporting both internal staff and partner organisations.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong administrative capability, customer focus, and experience working within an IT environment to contribute to a busy and varied service.

About the Role:

As an Assistant IT Analyst, you will play a key part in supporting the full IT asset lifecycle and Service Desk operations. Your work will involve close coordination with internal customers, senior stakeholders, and external suppliers to ensure IT services, equipment, and software are delivered efficiently and accurately.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide first-line Service Desk cover, including call logging and triage during busy periods
  • Deliver high-quality customer service to staff at all levels
  • Manage IT ordering processes including purchase orders, quotations, and invoices
  • Act as a key contact for external suppliers regarding orders and accounts
  • Maintain accurate IT asset, licensing, and inventory records
  • Support the full IT asset lifecycle from procurement to disposal
  • Assist with stock control and asset tracking
  • Support wider IT service and project activity

Working Arrangements:

This role is fully office-based at Council Headquarters in Haddington.

Job Details

To work as a member of the IT Service Desk & Desktop Services team with a primary focus on providing support for all aspects of the IT asset lifecycle to enable the Technical IT Staff to operate effectively and to help bring about Council wide digital transformation.

The key areas of responsibility are:
• Day to day asset management
• IT ordering and invoicing
• IT software licence management
• Provide call logging as part of the Service Desk

The Jobholder requires excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
Evidence of competency in literacy and numeracy skills such as a minimum of three standard grades credit passes/Nat 5 or equivalent level to include an IT related subject or an SVQ 2 in an IT/Computer related subject is an acceptable alternative.

Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*

Level 1 Disclosure Clearance
This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the Public Sector Network. ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be required prior to commencement.
