About Carers of East Lothian

Carers of East Lothian is a values driven local charity making a real impact in the community supporting adults who care for family and friends. We have an excellent reputation, gaining recognition through the Carers Trust ‘Excellence for Carers’ Award and have secured the contract to deliver adult carer services across East Lothian for an initial two-year period and a total period of up to six years, to 2031. We are a Carer Positive Exemplary employer, Disability Confident Committed and a Living Wage employer.

Role

The Respitality Worker will develop and deliver Respitality as part of Carers of East Lothian’s short breaks offer, helping unpaid carers take valuable time away from their caring responsibilities. Respitality combining “respite” and “hospitality” is a national scheme coordinated by Shared Care Scotland that connects carers with free breaks donated by hospitality, tourism and leisure businesses, from overnight stays and afternoon teas to event tickets and wellbeing activities. The postholder will bring the scheme to life locally by building strong relationships with businesses, securing suitable donations and working with carers to match breaks to their circumstances and preferences. This is an exciting, people-focused role requiring creativity, persistence and excellent communication, with the opportunity to make a practical difference by helping carers rest, recharge and feel recognised and valued.

Further Information

Closing date is Sunday 27th September 2026, with interviews to be held on Friday 9th October 2026 at Haddington Community Hospital.
