Dunbar Primary School is a large, vibrant and inclusive school community, split across two campuses with a current roll of over 1,100 pupils from Nursery to Primary 7.

Our John Muir Campus hosts fifteen P1–P3 classes and five nursery rooms, as well as our Authority provision for children with complex needs, The Cove, Our Lochend Campus comprises nineteen P4–P7 classes.

Our preferred candidate will have experience of creating a nurturing, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where all children feel valued, safe and ready to learn. They will also have knowledge of how to provide effective transition support as our learners move from Primary 3 to Primary 4, ensuring children and families experience smooth, well planned and emotionally secure transition between stages.

Post 1 (Perm, 35);
The successful candidate will have experience of teaching second level, ideally P6 or P7. The successful candidate will be initially based in the P7 stage. Our preferred candidate will have experience of delivering high quality teaching and learning and assessment for all. You will be experienced in making effective adaptations for learners with more complex additional support needs.

Post 2 (Perm, 35) & Post 3 (Temp, 35);

Post 4 (Temp, 17.5);
The successful candidate will have experience of teaching first level, ideally P3 or P4 . They will be initially based in the P4 stage and have experience of delivering high quality teaching and learning and assessment for all. They will be experienced in making effective adaptations for learners with more complex additional support needs and to be able to plan and implement differentiated learning experiences that support and challenge all learners.

Job Details

To undertake class-teaching duties

Teach assigned classes together with associated preparation and correction.
Develop the school curriculum.
Assess, record and report on the work of pupils.
Prepare pupils for examinations and assist with their administration.
Provide advice and guidance to pupils on issues related to their education.
Promote and safeguard the health, welfare and safety of pupils.
Work in partnership with parents, support staff and other professionals.
Undertake appropriate and agreed Career Long Professional Development (CLPL).
Participate in issues related to school planning, raising achievement and individual review.
Contribute towards good order and the wider needs of the school.

Please Note - Pay arrangements for those starting after 1st day of school session
In accordance with Teachers Conditions of Service (SNCT - Appendix 2.19), Teachers who commence employment with East Lothian Council after the first day of the school session will have their salary for the remainder of the school salary year (which runs from 1 August to 31 July each year), recalculated to reflect how teachers accrue leave and pay.

In these circumstances, a calculation will be carried out upon commencement of employment and leave and pay will be adjusted. Further information will be provided to the successful candidate should this be applicable.
