East Lothian Children's Services has an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled Family Support Worker to join our Intake and Assessment Team. This fast-paced and rewarding duty service plays a key role in ensuring children, young people and families receive the right support at the right time.

The Intake and Assessment Team is the front door to Children and Families Social Work Services, responding to referrals, assessing need and risk, and working with partner agencies to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes. We are committed to delivering high-quality, child-centred practice across East Lothian.

We are looking for applicants with excellent communication and report-writing skills, a strong values base, and a sound understanding of child development, assessment and child protection processes. Successful candidates will be confident in building positive relationships with children and families, contributing to assessment and planning, and working effectively with partner agencies.

East Lothian Children's Services is committed to keeping The Promise and ensuring the voices of children, young people and families are at the heart of everything we do. We promote a culture of learning, collaboration and professional development.

Our staff are our greatest asset, and we strive to provide a supportive, inclusive and child-centred working environment through effective supervision, manageable workloads and a healthy work-life balance. Staff are based in a modern open-plan office with onsite parking and have access to a Clinical Psychologist for consultation and support with complex work.

Our vision is to support children and young people to live safely within their families whenever possible. Staff play an active role in service development and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will have experience of working directly with children, young people and families and a sound understanding of child protection and safeguarding responsibilities. Experience within Children and Families Social Work Services would be advantageous.
