As we continue to strive to improve outcomes for children, young people and their families, East Lothian Children’s Services have an opportunity for a family support worker to join our Support and Intervention teams.

This is an exciting opportunity for suitably experienced individuals to develop and use their skills with children and young people who have experienced trauma.  You will have opportunity to combine expertise in working with vulnerable children and families, with promoting parenting skills.  You will partner with parents who will often have experienced significant and longstanding challenges, and for whom positive change requires committed support and resilience.

You will work alongside qualified Social Workers who manage each child or young person’s plan.  You will receive regular supervision from a Team Leader who is dedicated to supporting all family support workers within this service area.

Job Details

To work as part of a supervisory Group providing direct support to the children and families and contributing to the delivery of Children’s Wellbeing services provided to vulnerable children, young people and their families in East Lothian.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
HNC or SVQ Level 3 in either Social Care, Promoting Independence or Working with Young People and Children and able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies, gained through relevant experience.

Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*

PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
