A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a General Manager for Adult Social Work Services within East Lothian HSCP. This role acts as the lead Social Work professional within the partnership and a key member of the Health and Social Care Partnership Senior Leadership Team. Reporting operationally to the Head of Operations of Health and Social Care and, professionally, to the Chief Social Work Officer.
Working collegiately as part of an Integrated Senior Leadership Team you will support direction and enable a culture of multi-professional and multi agency working, continuous improvement and of modernisation. Leading on delegated professional responsibilities from the Chief Social Work Officer for Adult and Older Adult Social Work and Social Care within the Health and Social Care Partnership you will contribute to the development of social work practice at a local and national level. You will support the Director of Health and Social Care in the delivery and leadership of delegated corporate work programmes.
The successful candidate will be a highly experienced strategic and professional leader who understands the value of empowering those around them, who can help ensure that the principles of quality, safety and compassion are embedded in culture and practice and who will champion the development of innovation and integrated teams as we build services embedded in our localities.
A professional Social Work Qualification and Registration is required and you will be educated to Masters level or equivalent experience. You will be a professional role model and demonstrate a proven track record in senior social work leadership and complex change across diverse social work and social care services and evidence a commitment to the Integration of Health and Social.

Job Details
To deliver a high quality professional social work service to adults for East Lothian aimed at reducing risk and addressing inequality.
- To act as the senior Social Worker within the HSCP ensuring professional leadership to employees meeting the standards that are integral to SSSC and the parent bodies of the Health and Social Care Partnership.
- To provide managerial oversight of social work services and operational line management responsibility for our Duty Services, Community and care home assessment and review teams and Justice Social Work.
- To hold functional responsibility for oversight, monitoring, assurance of the statutory functions and standards of regulated Social Work and Social Care including and aligned with Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968 CSWO duties as they apply to Adult Social Work and Social Care, This will include, but not limited to Adult Support and Protection (ASP), Self Directed Support, Social Work (Scotland) Act 1968, Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Act 2003 and Adults With Incapacity (Scotland) Act 2000.

- To lead the implementation of East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership’s strategies through operational management of the NHS Lothian health services and East Lothian Council social care services, including responsibility for the employees and joint budgets in the HSCP and for ensuring efficiency, productivity and performance targets.
- Lead the integration of primary, community health, and social care services within the services, controlling resources, commissioning care and engaging directly with hospital services to lead on the prevention of admission and the facilitation of early discharge within the HSCP.

Job Requirements
Relevant Qualifications
Registered Social Worker.
Post Graduate professional qualification at diploma / degree level in Social Work.
Recognised management qualification, e.g. MBA or MSc or evidence of equivalent senior management skills.
Evidence of continuous and recent professional development.
SSSC registration is an essential requirement of this role. If you are appointed and are not already a member of the relevant section of the SSSC Register, you will be required to apply for registration as soon as possible and this must be achieved within six months of your start date.
PVG Membership
This post is considered as Regulated Work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
