East Lothian Council are currently recruiting Casual Tutors to develop and deliver our Community-based English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) courses, which are accredited through Qualifications Scotland (formerly SQA) and delivered mainly in the evening throughout East Lothian.

Jobholders would typically be educated to Degree level and the successful candidate must hold a minimum of a CELTA (Certificate of Language Teaching to Adults) or equivalent and have experience of delivering ESOL to a range of abilities and ages in a community-based setting. Also, SQA assessor experience and familiarity with the SCQF ESOL framework are highly desirable, as is a background in Employability of offering additional support for ESOL learners as they enter and progress in the workplace.

Interviews for this position will take place on Monday 11th May.

Job Details

To deliver a range of ESOL courses to adults and young people (post school). To use appropriate methods to promote learning and achievement, including the associated activities related to the preparation, delivery and assessment of courses.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
CELTA in ESOL or equivalent qualification.
Experience of tutoring/teaching groups in an ESOL context.

Driving Licence
A full current driving licence is desirable for this post.

PVG Membership
This post is considered as a Regulated Role with vulnerable children and/or protected adults, as specified in the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.

All preferred candidates for posts carrying out regulated work with these groups will be required to become a PVG Scheme member, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if they are already a member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made by East Lothian Council.
