The successful candidate will be part of Team delivering an efficient and effective Rent Income service to all Council tenants in East Lothian. The successful candidate will help the team minimise Rent arrears, and maximise income, to ensure the Council has the finances to deliver quality Housing services. Initially, the successful candidate will be tasked with reviewing and managing Homeless Former Tenant debt.

Post 2 - Temporary secondment cover until 31st March 2026.

The successful candidate will cover an internal secondment for approximately nine months, and be part of Team delivering an efficient and effective Rent Income service to all Council tenants in East Lothian. The successful candidate will help the team minimise Rent arrears, and maximise income, to ensure the Council has the finances to deliver quality Housing services.

An opportunity has arisen for a 2 Rent Income Advisers to work within our Revenues Service based at John Muir House, Haddington.

As well as being educated to a minimum of SVQ Level 2 or equivalent, and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant working experience, the successful candidates must be able to illustrate experience of working in a customer-focused environment, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and excellent negotiation and organisational skills.

As part of Team deliver an efficient and effective Rent Income Section service to all Council tenants in East Lothian and commit to achieving the lowest level of current and former tenant rent arrears by minimising arrears and maximising income to ensure the Council has the finances to deliver quality Housing services by ensuring customers are fully supported throughout the process and in compliance with the rent recovery process.

Job Requirements

Relevant Qualifications
NC/SVQ Level 2/Higher or equivalent level of knowledge and/or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and competencies gained through relevant experience.

Driving Licence
As the duties of this role require you to effectively travel to successfully undertake the full remit of the role, you must hold a current driving licence and have access to a vehicle.*

Level 1 Disclosure Clearance
This role requires Level 1 Disclosure Clearance to allow access to the Public Sector Network. ELC will submit a Police Act Disclosure application on behalf of the preferred candidate and receipt of the subsequent certificate will be required prior to commencement.
